A Fool: Are You?
And the king lamented over Abner, and said, Died Abner as a fool dieth? 2 Samuel3:33.
This is the story of how Abner, Saul's captain, died. He had already visited David in Hebron and talked and made peace with him. David also had sent him away in peace.
But Joab, David's servant, hated Abner because he killed his brother Asahel in Gibeon. When they told Joab that Abner came and the David the king had sent him away in peace, was not happy and told David that he had visited him to commit treason I.e to know his whereabouts.
So Joab, in the name of David, sent for Abner to come back to Hebron. Nevertheless, David didn't know about all these things going on. When Abner came, Joab called him aside and did as if he wanted to talked to him alone. To cut the long story short, he slew him exactly the place he pierced his brother, Asahel. The end is that, he died. David, hearing what had happened, commanded all his servants to mourn Abner's death. David was so sorrowful and lamented that Abner has just died like a fool!
He knew that he had killed Asahel, Joab's brother and the same man is calling you aside to talk to you and you agreed with him. What a foolish attitude! He didn't even remember that the hatred is still being nursed inside Joab. How could he soon forget his brother's dead so soon?
The same question is coming to you today, will you die as a fool?
Will you not end like a fool? Will you go like that like one of the fools does?
You have heard so many people sharing testimonies of salvation, won't you have the same testimony too?
You have heard that Jesus is coming back for his own, will you not prepare to go with him too?
You have heard that the mark 666 is spreading everywhere, what action are you making to curb and escape from it too?
Do you think you can be smarter than Satan? Oh, you must think he is a fool like you.
You want quick money be engaging in dubious business and you think you can escape it repercussions?
You have been sleeping with your boss's wife and you think you are innocent?
You are having affairs with your own blood sister and you think you are clean and guiltless?
Every Friday is partying and humanising at discos, hotels, Fela shrine and so many other joints and you still claim you are clever?
There is an eye that is watching you, there is a cloud of witness that is recording all your involvement and shaddy business and engagements.
You can't go Scott free. A day of recompense will come upon you if you refused to jettison those things.
Once again, will you be like Abner that died like a fool?
Abner, you are done talking to David, go back to your city and relax! Your errors had been forgiven. You are now free to live a normal and cool life. But, Alas! He came back to me his death. He died untimely! A fools too die untimely. Will you also die untimely because of foolishness?
Since experience is a sore teacher, why not make observation a better lecturer? Abner lacked observation, so therefore, he preferred the experience of death. Are you not threading the same path today? There is a way that seems good, lovely, pleasurable, money oriented, nicely and profitable to a man, but at the end, leads to death, destruction and doom.
That is the way to hotels, that is the way to shaddy business transactions, that is the way to sleeping with your boss's wife, that is the way to ccommitting fornication with your blood sister, that is the way to masturbating, that is the way to committing examination malpractices, that is the way to lying to get fame or wealth, that is the way to corruption. It looks good, neat, problem free, promising but the end is prison, HIV/AIDs, Syphilis, Gnorrhea, STDs, untimely death, rapea and at the tail end, hell fire.
Flee such way and be scrupulous with whatever you are doing. Faithfulness is highly rewarding. Truthfulness is very profitable. To be born again is the only bargain. To be saved is the only way to be safe. You too can accept Christ today and live a better
